We were concerned to hear that former club president John Sheerin had apparently suffered a stroke on Friday morning and more so when the rumour was confirmed to be true later that day.

However, we are glad to report that John is now showing encouraging signs of recovery. According to Nanette, he has regained some movement in his hand, and hospital staff had him out of bed and walking around a little on Sunday afternoon. We’re sure that will be a great relief to all club members, as well as to John’s immediate family.

It looks as though John will be in hospital for a while to come as he continues his progress. If anyone wishes to visit, please email info@penicuikrugby.org and we can give you details. Please note that hospital staff ask that you avoid meal times (which are 12:00 to 12:45 pm and 5:00 to 5:45 pm) but that there are few restrictions apart from that between 11:00 am and 8:00 pm.

We all wish John a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him re-installed in his traditional corner of the bar.

Update – comment from Tom Tait:

“We certainly hope he is back soon. It’s his round!”
