This Weekend

It’s April and its all about rugby 7’s..

On Saturday our Seven’s side make the trip to Inverleith Park for the their 2nd outing of the season at the Blyth & Blyth Edinburgh Northern 7’s.  Penicuik’s first tie is 12:24pm

The Northern 7’s is always a great day of rugby sevens with some great teams on display.  (See the archive photo below for the last time a Penicuik side came back from the bunker with silverware)

The club is hosting a private function on Saturday evening, but we are sure 7’s winger John Graham won’t mind members crashing his 21st

Keep reading and see what’s been happening in and around the clubhouse including some great Hunter & Lass news

Last weekend at Portobello was a good first run out against some good sides.  We know the area’s to work on for this weekend and we all can’t wait for the 7’s this weekend at the Blyth & Blyth Edinburgh Northern 7’s.

First time is 12:24 for supporters, Inverleith park is a great venue for 7’s and we hope as many supporters make the trip out as possible.

In and around the clubhouse

Massive congratulations to P6 player Mason Davidson who has been selected as Junior Hunter for this years Hunter & Lass.  Mason takes over from P7 player Straun Fraser, and continues the long tradition of the rugby clubs ties with the Hunter & Lass.

This May Mason will swap the back of the Penicuik rugby float for riding his horse with the main cavalcade through the town

How talented are our Midi’s??  With youth rugby on hold for the Easter break, these 3 attended the National Band Camp at Ottenburn with the Black Watch Army Cadet Force.

Well done  Andrew (u14), Christian (u14) & Caleb (u16)

Not only are the sevens series an excellent way to spend Saturday’s, it’s also a great way to meet up with former team mates and former coaches.

This was the case last Saturday at the Melrose 7’s when former 1xv players Paul Hope & Stephen McManus bumped into former 1xv coach Conan Sharman who was down coaching the Watsonians 7’s side.

Conan spent a few years coaching the 1xv backline during his playing career whilst at Edinburgh.
