Today, we’re thrilled to host Letterkenny RFC, a proud side from the Ulster Championship 2 league, as they join us on their rugby tour adventure. Rugby tours are more than just games on the pitch—they’re a celebration of everything that makes this sport extraordinary.
A touring rugby match is a unique occasion filled with passion, sportsmanship, and community. It’s a chance for players to test their mettle against unfamiliar opposition, to share stories and experiences, and to forge friendships that extend far beyond the final whistle. It’s where rivalries are left on the field, and the spirit of rugby thrives around post-match gatherings, shared meals, and the laughter of teammates and families.
These matches remind us of the greater rugby family, uniting communities from different regions and fostering connections that cross borders and generations. Whether it’s the roar of the crowd as a try is scored, the camaraderie of a shared drink after the game, or the warm welcome extended by hosts and visitors alike, rugby tours embody the values of respect, inclusivity, and mutual admiration.
We wish Letterkenny RFC a fantastic day on and off the field and thank them for joining us in this shared tradition. Let’s embrace the spirit of the game, celebrate the bonds we create, and make memories that will last long after the tour ends.
To all our supporters, players, and families—welcome to an unforgettable day of rugby. Let’s show them what Penicuik is all about!

About Our Guests
Letterkenny RFC is a rugby union club based in County Donegal, Ireland. The club has strong ties with Dave Gallaher, the New Zealand rugby union footballer, best known as the captain of “The Originals”. Gallaher is mentioned on the team crest, and the team plays its home games at Dave Gallaher Memorial Park in Letterkenny.
This season they have been sponsored by Churchill Cabs & Mini Bus hire and McCafferty’s Bar
They finished 8th this season in the Ulster Championship 2, winning 6 out of their 18 games crossing the try line 51 times. This included 6 against C.I.Y.M.S in a cracking 41-46 defeat, who went on to win the league this season.

Scotland Representative Honours
🏉 Congratulations to Niamh Waters! 🏉
We’re thrilled to share some fantastic news with our Penicuik Rugby Club family and local community!
Niamh Waters, who started her rugby journey right here in Penicuik, has been selected for the Scotland Women U18 squad to compete in the 2025 U18 Six Nations Festival at Wellington College, England.
The tournament runs from Friday, 11 April to Saturday, 19 April, and will see the young Scots taking on France, Wales, England, and Ireland in 35-minute matches, before finishing with a full 70-minute game against Italy.
Niamh, now playing for Biggar Girls, is a proud Penicuik origin player and recently reached out to borrow a top for the special “Club of Origin” training session.
We couldn’t be prouder to see her represent Scotland on such a prestigious stage and to know she carries her Penicuik roots with her. More recently Niamh played an active part in last summers Tartan Touch event at the club alongside her brother.
Let’s rally behind Niamh and show her all the support she deserves as she takes on this incredible opportunity.
Your hard work and dedication continue to inspire us all, Niamh—best of luck at the festival! 💪🎉
If your daughter wants to try (or return to rugby) we are now in the final stages of launching our new Penicuik Panthers Girls Rugby Section.
