Up and Coming Events

This Saturday our P5-7 mini players will be the guard of honour for Edinburgh v Castre in the EPCR Challenge Cup at Hive Stadium and will take part in games at half time on the pitch.

Keep an eye out for the players if you’re at the game, or watching live on Viaplay.  Kick off is 1pm

This Sunday is all about the mini’s (and children of all our members) Xmas Party.  Santa is making a trip away from his North Pole preparations to pay a visit to the Montgomery Park.

In conditions that even payed players complained playing in, Penicuik welcomed Dalkeith to Montgomery Park with the winners surely on a footing to finish the season as champions.

Dalkeith opened the scoring on 7mins with a converted try, an error by Penicuik seen dalkeith awarded an attacking scrum, a series of forward plays finally seen them crossing the try line.

Penicuik’s attempts to get back into the game were thwarted by the loss of top scorer, Ketchen, on 15mins to ankle injury and 5 mins later lost centre Reid to a re-occuring groin injury.  The back line was re-schuffled with Dean moving to 12, Harris to an unfamiliar 13 and Randall onto the wing.

Both teams traded missed penalty attempts before half time, however Dalkeith nudged ahead with a penalty win 42mins.  Haynes slotted for Penicuik on 50mins, however further indiscipline led to another 2 Dalkeith penalties seen the score line run away from Penicuik.

Penicuik continued to pressure Dalkeith, however the usual slick backline weren’t able to inflict any real damage.  With time running out, Penicuik kept pressing now chasing a losing bonus point, but Dalkeith continued to steal the ball in the contact area.

Congratulations to Dalkeith on the win and good luck with the rest of the league campaign, they played the conditions perfectly and one of our older supporters commented he enjoyed being taken back to his time watching England in the 1980’s and early 90s.

This weekend the 2xv will play the final game on our pitches of 2023 as we move into our centenary year of 2024.

We welcome Stewart’s Melville in this re-arranged game.  Coach Mann has a strong side to select from and its great to see Matt Randall back from injury.

Cartwright and Harris return from the 1xv bench and Tom Winnington continues his come back from injury
