First XV

Penicuik 29

Dalkeith 51

Tries : Malone, L.Randall (2) Ketchen

Cons : Haynes (3)

Pens : Haynes (1)

Penicuik allowed themselves to be bullied by a larger, bigger Dalkeith side who at half time were 27-0 and a rout on the cards.  With the wind at their backs, Penicuik started to play some ball in the 2nd half, but were pushing too hard leading to mistakes.  A Malone try reduced the gap to 27 – 5, before Dalkeith increased their lead to 51-5.

3 further tries, 2 from Luke Randall and another from Steven Ketchen closed the game at 51-29.  The try bonus point the only reward to take from the game which ensures Penicuik finished the afternoon top of the league 1 point ahead of Dalkeith and todays guests Dunbar.

Dunbar arrive at Montgomery Park after a strong 43-19 win at home to Hawick Linden last time out, their only defeat this season was also to Dalkeith 7-20 back in September.

Both sides will be chasing a win with bonus points as 3rd place Dalkeith have had their game against Duns cancelled due to insufficient players from Duns

This week DoR Mark Blair has a larger squad to chose from due to number players away at Ross Liddle’s wedding last Saturday.  At time of print there are still a couple TBC positions, and no doubt Blairso is currently on the phone calling up the last recruits.

Dunbar line up as

2xv

No game last week for the 2xv given the size of the injury list and unavailable players.  This weekend they make the trip to Raeburn place to play Edinburgh Accies 3xv.

In and Around the Clubhouse

Congratulations to the new Mr & Mrs Liddle who tied the knot last Saturday at a gorgeous day down at Cornhill Castle.

As much as we all had fun, could players stop booking weddings on match days please 🤦🏼‍♂️, lets hope the missing players from last week make up for it against Dunbar this weekend!
