Presidents words

After 2 weeks of very little rugby thanks to the cold weather we have an early Christmas cracker to enjoy this weekend as we welcome Dalkeith to Montgomery park. The teams met earlier in the season with Dalkeith worthy winners on the day with a comprehensive and powerful performance that for 60 mins we had a little answer to. However a strong final 20mins saw us sneak a try bonus point which I believe should give us a lot of confidence to build on going into the weekend.

A local derby is alway an exciting occasion and brings with it many stories and memories of past matches. This weekends game promises to be a competitive and entertaining encounter and I know the team would value and appreciate a large vocal home support. So please take a break from your Christmas shopping and come along to support the guys.

Finally at long last we had more information this week on the eagerly awaited national shield competition from the SRU. We have been drawn in the first round away to Corstorphine on the 27 January and, ahould we be successful, we will play Livingston in the next round.

Penicuik welcome Midlothian neighbours to Montgomery Park on Saturday afternoon, having lost to the Kings Park side earlier in the season 51-29.

We have to go back to the noughties to find the last time a Penicuik 1xv side have beaten Dalkeith (however the teams have been competing at different league levels through the years).

Game Selection

Calum Tait and Luke Di Rollo are both unavailable, however it’s great to have Finn Tait back from his travels down under.  We’ve heard rumours he had been out running 10k every morning before heading out but this picture suggests different

Nik Adler sustained an injury whilst playing 7’s out in Dubai last week and misses out, but Euan Reid returns from injury and Aidan Dean returns after his usual November holiday in the sun.

Robbie Mactaggart is the 23rd man for the day incase of players over indulging in Friday Christmas nights out, having last played against Dalkeith in 2009.
