Presidents Comments :

As we head into the weekend I’m sure all our players will be grateful for the slightly cooler temperatures that have arrived after the hot start to the season we have had over the last 2 weeks.

After another positive result in the borders the First XV have a welcome return home as they entertain Corstorphine with the Second XV making the short trip to start their league campaign vs Bourghmuir.

As ever both teams will appreciate your support. The growth and strength of our SecondXV has been one of our success stories of the last few years and is the envy of many a club. The potent mix of youth and experience which has come together in such a positive way under Rich, Ben and Hopey has propelled the team into a higher league this year where they will lock horns with some illustrious names.

This will provide a great opportunity for our players to grow and develop and while there may be the odd off tough weekend it’s a huge positive step and one we should all be proud of.

With the season well under way annual memberships are now due and we are again offering a reduction of £10 for those who pay before the end of October.

Payments can be made via the website or if you agreed to the recurring membership payment last year then things are nice and easy with the membership system automatically taking this years membership payment on the same date as last years Membership prices are – Full/ Family – £80 (£70 for early payment) Patron/ Junior – £55 (£45 for early payment) use EARLYBIRD2023 for discount If you don’t want to continue membership then please cancel before that date. Apologies to those who were unaware that this would happen.

We will of course deal with any refunds as required. If your card has expired in the year since last payment you will be required to update your details before payment can be processed. Again any problems please email membership@penicuikrugby.org and we will do our best to help.

Have a good weekend

1xv

Penicuik 30 – 19 Hawick Harlequins

Tries : Ketchen (2), Hunter & Dean

Con : Haynes (2),

Pens : Haynes (2)

2 away wins in the borders with bonus points is one of the best league starts Penicuik have had for a long while.

However the score doesn’t reflect the very hard game against a strong Quins team, who had shouts for a couple more tries ruled out.

15 to go, Penicuik found themselves down to 13 and only an excellent defensive performance stopped Quins producing the comeback.

After several years away, we enjoyed a trip to Wilton Park Lodge, and wish Quins all the best in their league comeback.

This weekend we welcome Corstorphine, who we have enjoyed some great battles with over the past few seasons.  Its great to welcome back captain and vice captain Malone Twins, also making his first start of the season is Cammy Crawford.

kick off is 3pm
