Members Ask

To help the club out on Saturday match days we have formed a team of members who have volunteered to help behind the bar on Saturdays 4 – 7pm.

To help this elite group of 4 members, we are reaching out to the wider club members for more volunteers to join them and spread the load.

This is to cover the busy spells, no opening/closing is required, and free drinks are available throughout the period.

If you have a few hrs to spend, enjoy the match day atmosphere and want to help your local rugby club, drop an email to info@penicuikrugby.org or speak to Robbie.

ps…. if you have a dependant whose 18+ and looking for bar experience for further work, this an ideal position as we will also provide references

Take-Away Rugby Sunday

1xv

Penicuik 40 – 25 Corstorphine

Tries : Sprott, Ketchen (3), Malone, Isikeli

Con : Haynes (5),

Pens :

This was a tight game which the score line doesn’t reflect, and it was 2 late tries from Ketchen and Isikeli that made the difference.

The squad was on the back foot before the game with the late (very late) withdrawal of Di Rollo & Crawford.  Mitchell and Randall stepped up from the bench to cover.

A fairly even start seen Corstorphine 8-7 ahead following a Sprott try.  Steven Ketchen added a 2nd to make it 14-11 before Corstorphine intercepted to run in and make it 14-18.  After missing the open league games of the season, 1xv captain Oscar Malone finally turned up to make it 21-18.  Ketchen got his 2nd of the afternoon before half time to extend the margin.

Corstorphine scored after the 2nd half restart to close the score to 26-25.  A Ketchen hatrick pushed Penicuik further ahead before Isi crossed over to extend the score to 40-25.

A 3rd bonus point win on the bounce is great rewards for a squad working hard for each other and finally some continuity in selection.

This weekend the team travel to Almond Park Livingston, who went down last weekend 21-12 at Hawick Quins.

kick off is 3pm

The 2xv faced Boroughmuir 2xv last Sat, what started a tight game soon opened up following an injury to defensive captain Sam Murray.  The Penicuik bench was emptied shortly after leaving the team with 14 following a series of injuries.  The young Boroughmuir team soon ran riot.

This week the 2xv welcome Currie 3xv to Montgomery Park for a 3pm ko.
