Its a rugby filled weekend at the Old Pavilion

After last weeks rearranged game our 1xv return to Montgomery Park for the new season and welcome Portobello FP.

Portobello play in East Division League 1, and make the trip following a 52-7 result last weekend over Lismore.

Our 1xv travelled to Musselburgh 2xv last Saturday.  Tries from debutant Alan Haynes, Paul Smith and Steven Ketchen seen them win 21-19.  Massive thanks go to Musselburgh for hosting us at the last minute especially since it was their own Club open day, which seen their 1xv recapture the Jardine Cup from Preston Lodge.

Kick off is 1pm to allow players/supporters to make the trip to Murrayfield

Thanks to 1xv backs coach, Ross Liddle (photo further below), for not inviting the whole playing squad to his stag weekend and leaving us some players for this weekends game.  Also good luck to Penicuik Cricket Club who are also missing several players for their home game to Stewart Melville 2’s on Saturday

Squad is as follows

On Saturday morning our new U14 (S1/S2) embark on their rugby journey away to Kings Park to play neighbours Dalkeith, kick off is 10:30am.

Stuart and the coaching team have reported the players are looking forward to their first full outing since making the step up from mini rugby.

Also in action on Saturday morning are our U16’s who host Dalkeith, also 10:30k.  It would be great to see members come down and support our youngsters, then stay for the 1xv game immediately after.

On Sunday, our mini section travel to kick off their 2023 season away to Lasswade.  Kick off for the games are 11am, if all players could be on the pitches for 10:40am.

Strips will be provided as usual on arrival.

Please note, due to insufficient coaches, our micro section is postponed this weekend.

ps….

Good luck to Ross and all the rugby/cricket players away on his stag weekend.  Looking at the departure photo we are sure Claire has nothing to worry about……… (pps, Ross is available for sponsorship this year @juststop_oil)

Enjoy your rugby weekend
