And so we roll into Spring, and British Summer time looms into view with some cause for optimism. Case numbers seem to be under control (although still higher than we would all like) and the vaccination program is continuing apace. As a result, the Scottish Government guidelines have been updated and we can begin to run some limited training sessions for Minis and Midis.
Hunters (P1-7) training started back on Sunday and will continue on a Wednesday (6:15 pm to 7:15 pm) and Sunday (11:00 am to 12:15 pm) schedule. These playing groups are allowed to play touch rugby games. Parents are requested to maintain their distance from each other and from the coaching areas until such time as the guidance says that it is no longer necessary.
U14 and U16s will resume training on Wednesday evenings from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm. This will initially be limited by the need for these age groups to remain socially distanced from each other during sessions, but we’ll still be working to make it as much fun as we can.
Meanwhile, U18s will train on Tuesdays from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. This will also be socially distanced.
Adult training will wait until touch rugby is permitted once again, at which point a summer touch league is likely to be established. Players are advised to begin to ramp their own fitness levels back up so as to avoid damaging themselves too badly when the time comes.
