Due to current concerns around the spread of CoViD-19 and after careful consideration, taking into account official Government and SRU guidance, we have taken the decision to cancel this year’s Penicuik Sevens Tournament, which was due to take place on April 25th.
The evolving situation obliges us as a responsible organisation to take all reasonable measures to protect people’s health. That goes for the local community and for everyone that would be traveling to Penicuik for the rugby and other off-field activities.
Our Sevens has always attracted a diverse audience of all ages from across the local area. Given the increased threat of CoViD-19 to older people in particular, we are not willing to take any chances.
We understand this will be a bitter disappointment for everyone involved. All the hard working volunteers here at the club who have been preparing for this year’s sevens are saddened and frustrated to be cancelling, but public health must always come first.
Stay safe, everyone, and we’ll see you all for our 2021 Tournament.
