Last Saturday our current 2024 squad retraced the steps of the original Penicuik 1924 Pioneers with a match against Lismore RFC.

It was great to welcome our sponsors into the clubhouse beforehand along with previous officer bearers, all of whom have contributed to the existence of Penicuik Rugby.

Centenary President Gavin McQuillan led a Q&A with 1992 Captain Brian Doyle (whose family were founding members), current club captain Paul Hope (who started playing when our mini’s were first formed back in the 80’s) and current 2xv coach and centenary dinner planner Rich Mann.

A great game of rugby followed with Penicuik running out 43-15 winners.  Tries from Vudi, Dean, Adler, Sprott, Gilligan, Hope & Randall ensured the day followed the winning 1924 outcome which was 37-0

Everyone retreated to the clubhouse where celebrations continued well into the evening.

It was great to see so many families down with the clubhouse buzzing with a mix of player, families and other members.

Thanks go to Giovanni’s Restaurant for providing the sponsors lunch, our mini & midi section for providing the guard of honour and also a thanks to Sie and the Royal Hotel for bailing our bar out later in the evening #busy

Massive thanks to Lismore RFC who game and put in a great performance to create a great day of rugby.  We hope you enjoyed the clubhouse atmosphere afterwards.

Finally thanks to everyone who came down on Saturday to cheer the team on and to those former players who dusted off their boots for an appearance
